General:
Annual or biennial herb from a slender, whitish taproot; stems 30-80 cm tall, freely branched above, sparsely stiff-hairy
Leaves:
Basal leaves pinnately cut with the terminal lobe largest, 6-20 cm long, 1-4 pairs of distant lateral lobes; stem leaves several, reduced, stalked.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of ascending flower stalks, 1-2.5 cm long; petals yellow fading to white, often purplish-veined or -tinged, 15-20 mm long, twice the length of sepals.
Fruits:
Siliques, 4-8 cm long (including the 1-2 cm beaks), 3-6 mm wide, moniliform, finally breaking between the 1-seeded segments, prominently several-grooved lengthwise; seeds 4-12.
